Falling in love with waldorf dolls

Oh i remember the first time i came across a waldorf inspired doll. i think my jaw hit the ground, and my heart melted. i had to have one!!

Once i found out that the lovely little doll would cost me upwards of $200 (yikes) I spent hours, days and become a M.I.A mum and wife in my quest to learn how to make one.

Google is great for tips, and after practicing a few, i develop and adapted my own pattern for how i wanted them to look!

Now i am making them and selling them (well below the $200 mark) in hope that they bring joy to the lives of their new mummies, and that their new mummies experience the melting heart sensation that i did when i first set eyes upon a Waldorf.

Do you have a favourite doll from your childhood?

A day for a Waldorf (doll, not salad)

Waldorf inspired dolls seem to be all the rage at the moment. With this in mind and my thinking cap on, i decided to attempt my own. A lot of inspiration was needed for this. Things like 'how do other people attach the arm and legs' and 'what style of hair is popular'

Google provided a lot of the answers i needed and i set about making my own pattern. 3 hours later i had completed my first Waldorf doll! Lilia (lill-e-a) complete with adorable Tooshie!!

I whipped her up some pajamas from a pair of fluffy bed socks (pic 2) and crocheted her up a dress!

She just oozes "pick me up and cuddle me!"

Dancing through childhood with my dolls

(pic of current Dolls i make)

Well!

Here is the first entry into my Blog ( fairly obvious opening statement)

This blog has been created as a way for me to showcase my dolls that i've been making, along with my journey as a doll maker, without spamming the newsfeeds of my friends and family via social media sites!

I started making dolls for my 2 daughters, to allow them to share the same excitement i had as a child when i played with my dolls.

I struggled to find where i fit in as a child, and my dolls became my friends!

I Still cringe looking at those first dolls i made, the kids were so excited to receive and patiently waited for days for me to figure out how to sew them!

I've come along way since those days, and my dolls have improved ALOT! My daughters however are sick of seeing them! I now make them to sell in the hope other children can get the same love and friendship i got from my dolls as a child!
